Most grocery co-ops use volunteers for many important functions. We use them for almost EVERY function since we are small and don’t have the capital or income (yet) to have a fully paid staff.
Volunteers in our store run the cash registers, make product pick-ups, restock the shelves, take inventory, do data entry for our new ordering/stock control system and do cleaning and store maintenance.
Our Buy Club program is managed by volunteers. Receiving the many orders we receive per week and pricing them are all handled by volunteers under supervision of our store manager.
Volunteers work on advertising and marketing activities and help with community outreach work as we educate the Yelm community as to what we are and what we do.
As a member-owned store, we encourage as many of our members as possible to help us keep OUR store running and growing.
Volunteer staff receives 20% discount on all store items. They also receive wholesale prices for bulk items through the Buy Club, saving as much as 30% over normal retail prices and nearly 17% over normal Buy Club prices.
We offer an in-store training program which qualifies you for the above benefits when you have successfully completed it and have worked 10 hours in a month.
